The RunLiverpool Marathon returns on Sunday, 9th October 2011 after a gap of some 18 years with 12,000 runners taking to the city's streets.

Race Day Experience

Sunday 9th October 2011 is a day eagerly anticipated by many thousands of runners across the UK and beyond.

It will see as many as 12,000 participants take to the roads of Merseyside in the first Run Liverpool Marathon since 1992.

The event theme is RUN IT! LIVE IT! LOVE IT! – and we are convinced that’s just what everyone will do, spectators included! It is after all the original long and winding road!

The marathon race day experience will mean different things to different people but the one thing everyone will take home with them – along with the finishers’ medal – will be a sense of absolute achievement.

Along the way we hope the runners will take in many of the iconic landmarks on the course – especially the captivating view between six and nine miles where you can fully appreciate the magnitude of the famous Liverpool skyline.

Although any 26.2 mile distance is bound to be physically demanding we anticipate the marathon route that has been planned will live up to the expectations of every distance runner, hence the event theme.

We hope that runners, spectators and everyone involved in the event will enjoy the marathon weekend in this famous city of ours and that you will be able to say “…the Run Liverpool Marathon? I RAN IT! LIVED IT! AND LOVED IT!”
